The mariners were formed as a unit of Araba in 1971 for our members who share an interest in boating and related activities. The Araba Mariners are one of the largest units in Araba and as such carry the responsibility of participating in all scheduled shrine events and fund raising. The organizational structure of the mariners consists of Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear Commodore, Fleet Captain, Secretary and Treasurer and three Directors. These officers are elected annually. The Mariners meet every 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at Araba Shrine Center. Executive Board & Bridge @ 1800 hours, Regular meeting @ 1900 hours. In addition, we participate in all scheduled parades with our "Mariner" float. We are members of the Florida Shrine Mariners Association and the International Association of Shrine Yacht Clubs. The Mariners schedule a "rendezvous" each month at various locations where docking is available and many members elect to come by boat. The Mariners are a very active group and enjoy great fellowship and camaraderie, but, we are also aware of the purpose of Shrinedom and our obligation to the Shrine Children's Hospitals. We share the responsibility in maintaining and funding the highest quality for our 22 hospitals and constantly strive to give our total support for improving the quality of life to children. The Mariners invite any Araba Shriner with boat or boating interests to come join our unit. You are always welcome.
